Description
Ronin Elite Bare Blade With Bo Hi (groove)
Ronin Elite katana have been traditionally forged and laminated in the soshu kitae tradition (seven panel steel). This school was developed by the legendary Japanese smith Masamune, and combines panels of hard, medium, and soft steels. The core of the blade is formed from softer, more malleable steel giving it exceptional flexibility. A layer of slightly harder steel is bonded to each side of the core to add support. The last layers are a very hard steel bonded to the top, bottom, and both sides of the core forming the ha (cutting edge) mune (back edge) and shinogi-ji (blade flats). This form of laminar construction provided for a sword that could be sharpened to a razor edge due to the hardened steed used for the ha, but was extremely resilient to battle damage due to its softer more flexible core.

Ronin Elite Bare Blade with Bo Hi
First purchase with Ronin , very happy . Very solidly built, in comparison to other high end bare blades that I have handled and examined (friend’s) this is by far the best deal I have seen . Will definitely be buying more .

Built quality
My first entry level katana. As I am a novice at this, all I can give is my first impression. The sword is solidly built. Very beautiful and sharp. Not too heavy. Will buy some bamboo mats later to do some chopping.

Ronin Bare Blade with bo hi.
The sword arrived fast and was packaged very nicely. The only reason I didn't leave 5 stars is because there are some light scratches here and there in the blade, two very small imperfections on the cutting edge near the tip and the polish wasn't 5 star worthy. Perhaps that's why the blade was on sale. Still a very nicely crafted katana.

Absolutely beautiful blade
Wanted an Elite katana for a while, finally settled on the bare blade so I can put my own furniture on it. My blade came well packed, with a much nicer sword bag than I expected. The blade is gorgeous! There’s a ton of wax in the Saya. Took a while to get that off the blade. The fit and finish is impressive. Mine is rock solid and for a bare blade, the furniture it really well lacquered. I only found 1 small blemish where the handle meets the Saya. The blade is flawless and kinda scary sharp. I received it in 3 days... all of my expectations were met or exceeded. I recommend.
