Description

Ronin Elite Laminated O-Katana Fan Favorites Series Model #18 - 33 inch blade bo hi groove

This Ronin Elite katana has been traditionally forged and laminated in the soshu kitae tradition (seven panel steel). This school was developed by the legendary Japanese smith Masamune, and combines panels of hard, medium, and soft steels. The core of the blade is formed from softer, more malleable steel giving it exceptional flexibility. A layer of slightly harder steel is bonded to each side of the core to add support. The last layers are a very hard steel bonded to the top, bottom, and both sides of the core forming the ha (cutting edge) mune (back edge) and shinogi-ji (blade flats). This form of laminar construction provided for a sword that could be sharpened to a razor edge due to the hardened steed used for the ha, but was extremely resilient to battle damage due to its softer more flexible core.

    Long Bladed Weapon

Posted by Bill McClary on Nov 14th 2025

I am 6’4” and an athletic 245 lbs. A standard katana blade is too short for me — was looking for something with a longer blade and handle. Found both with this piece — sense that length is perfect for me, but I have not responded powerfully to the acquisition yet either very positively or very negatively — something about the way it feels in my hands — just my gut response; hard to describe. The sword came razor sharp, and everything otherwise seems to be in order. Lived for 4 years in Japan during my time in the Service and examined quite a few Japanese swords during that time. This is not the prettiest piece I have seen, but it does look strong and substantial where it matters. Shipping was quick, packaging was all fine. Look forward to making some cuts with it when the weather improves. Hoping the blade grows on me — I do not regret the purchase or the buying experience. Believe Ronin Katana brings a solid product to the market…

Ronin Katana Elite Laminated Samurai Sword Model #18 -33 inch blade bo hi groove

The handle is the most comfortable that I have, if you have large hands you'll like it, razor sharp, can't wait to slice a few red cedar limbs with it, excellent balance, timely delivery which I've been experiencing delays elsewhere.

Katana is very nicely made. All the sword furnishings appear to be of good quality. The overall sharpness of the blade is very good.

I used to study kendo and it is nice to pick up a well made katana.
