    I got a great deal !

Posted by Melvin Jackson on May 10th 2019

I did a review on this last night but not sure if it posted yet but I ordered from the scratch and dent deal and I got a dojo pro that was put together very well . the ito was super tigh and I laquered it so it will hold up for a long time . all there was ,was a couple of minor scratches on the blade which was very easy to get rid of . I been working on it and she is really starting to look perfect and when im done polishing the blade then she will be a true master piece . I ordered a new tsuba for it and once that gets here then she will be complete . but everything came to me solid and I have zero complaints and my dojo pro looks much better than my hanwei raptor shobu zukuri . ronin is now my favorite company to do buisness with . so im giving 5 stars on how well the katana was put together and that tsuka is just perfection .

    I got a great deal !

I got my dojo pro 3 days ago and when I got it , I seen that the ito wrap was super tight and I laquered it real good and painted the rayskin black . the was more scratches on the blade but they were easy to get out and I been buffing on the blade . she will be a true beauty when im done with it . I ordered a wave theme tsuba with gold highlights in it from japan and once im done with polishing the blade to a true mirror finish and add that tsuba , my dojo pro will be a true show piece . it was very sharp when I recieved it from the scratch and dent deal . it will look way better than it did when I first got it ! Thats for sure ! And I also love how the kissaki flares out and gets wider giving the kissaki more strength and the dotanuki sttle blade is my favorite blade . I feel like I hit the katana jackpot on this blade and it looks way better than my hanwei raptor shobu zukuri katana . this dojo pro will be my main go to sword for sure because it truely is a beast and the tsuka is excellent . Im glad that I decided to order from the scratch and dent deal . I really scored huge . for 165 its the coolest looking dojo pro for sure . thanks ronin for looking out for a brotha !

    Feels okay, cuts amazing

The scabbard has a lot of gluey substance. According to the web, it's to protect the sword from rust. It seems a bit excessive. The blade was surprisingly thick. This is my first katana purchase (I'm used to Medieval and early modern European swords), so I was pretty surprised. The "Dotanuki" aspect probably made it so that the blade is beefier than your traditional ones. In the future, I'll probably get the Elite line just to avoid the "Dotanuki" beater blades. Or at least to get a better aesthetically pleasing sword that feels more traditional. The blade also cuts really well. Or rather, it was hard to misalign my cuts against a water bottle whereas I sometimes struggle with one-handed sabres depending on the guard. The hilt feels really good. Someday, I'm hoping for a faux shagreen option, but no doubt it's very pretty and authentic. tl;dr It's a blade heavy sword that cuts very well. I'm not a fan of the beefy blade but it was marketed as such. I just ignored it the first time.
