    Model #3

Bought on sale. Shipping was super fast. Did probably way too much research when looking for a Katana. Decided on the RK #3 because I wanted function over form. And it works. Aesthetically, the katana looks great, not over done, hamon looks cool. Performance, I've only cut some water bottles, but it did the job. Overall it is comfortable to wield, looks good, and functions as intended. My singular complaint is the wax in the scabbard. I've tried cleaning it, but it just keeps coming out. But I also understand this is probably necessary being that these are pre-made and just hang out in a warehouse til sold. Great value for the money!

    Ronin Entry

I've owned numerous blades from the manufacturers such as Hanwei, Musashi, Muntetoshi, and Legacy Arms to name a few. I'm a collector of sharp point things! Sword came sharp, no rust. Ito is tight, the blade is reasonably sharp, and the hamon is visibly authentic. I will say - the saya came with a 1mm chip in it, the Kissaki had a bur at the radius of the tip. Some wood is visible at the bottom of the tsuka. Given the amount I spent, still give this 5 stars. It punches way above it's price point with cutting ability.

Absolutely a must for a collector

I used to be stationed in Yokota Kichi, Tokyo back in 2010 in the air force and always wanted to own a real katana, remembering the ones I saw in Japan were over 4k a piece, I didn't realize Ronin Katana featured really good real katanas for an affordable price. Thank you again. I will be a loyal customer

One of the Best Value-for-Money Propositions | A Must-Have Sword

Posted by Matthew R. on Jan 25th 2023

I have always been intrigued by this offering from Ronin Katana but I never took the jump until now. I’m glad I did, however, because I found this sword to be one of the best value-for-product propositions out there on the market. The tsuka was nicely shaped, the wrap was moderately tight, the fittings were well cast and secure, and although there were some ledges, they were almost intangible. As for the blade, it was straight and had planes that were relatively flat with some rippling. The bohi terminations were not entirely even on both sides but you would have to look very closely to even notice it. Other than that, it was intensely sharp, had a better polish than anticipated, and had both distal as well as profile taper that gave the sword an incredibly nimble and well-balanced feel. My only real complaint would have to come from the saya which had lots of coagulated wax stuffed into it, a lot of rattle, and almost no retention. But all in all, for around $117 USD, you can’t ask for much more in a daily cutter. If you’re looking for an affordable sword that isn’t just a hunk of sharpened steel and is one that could also handle some abuse with some level of aesthetic quality, this sword is a must-have.

    Incredible value for money

Posted by Tony on Jan 20th 2023

Been doing martial arts for over two decades and owned various types of training equipment including swords, bo staffs, and jo staffs. But finding good equipment that's made like this for the price, that's a rare find! This sword was purchased to practice forms. And not only does it fit that role extremely well, this sword is sharp enough to do actual cuts if you decide to have some fun with it. The quality of the blade is good enough, and the tight fit of the parts is excellent. Shipping came with a tracking number and constant communication with from the Ronin Katana team. Service was also able to answer questions quickly, something hard to find these days from any company! The packaging was also impressive. You get a shipping box, and inside is the Ronin Katana box, and inside that is foam and a sword cover that wraps the sword. Sword came oiled and had some wrap protecting the tip so it would not chip during shipping, so when you take it out you will need to remove it. Someone recommended Singer machine oil for the blade so I bought that prior to delivery, it works like a charm. And you can wipe down the handle gently using a simple household cleaner solution. Maintenance is easier if you're just going to practice Kata. If you're cutting, would consider cleaning the blade after every session. All in all, this is going to be the only supplier for swords for me going forward. Thank you Ronin Katana team!
