    Nice esthetics

Posted by Elijah Puccio on Jan 14th 2021

Well fitted and tight Only complaint is that 1" from the Habaki is dull and i can sharpen it myself but for 300$ I think it should be completed not a diy project

    Ronin Katana #13

Posted by Tyler Adams on Sep 24th 2020

I was amazed when I received this sword, the quality is very high for the price point. I found the purchase process effortless and my sword was shipped within 12 hours of my order. I should disclose this is my first "real sword" so I am basing my review on little knowledge. However I buy all kinds of stuff and for $300 I cant imagine there are way better products for the price. I have been swinging this thing around for a week and it is as solid as the day it arrived. My entire experience with Ronin has been a true pleasure and I am definitely going to purchase more from this company. Great work guys and thanks so much for making my introduction to functional swords so perfect.

    Dojo pro model 13

Posted by Jenkins on Aug 21st 2020

This is a wonderful sword. It came out of the box sharp enough that the weight of its blade by itself managed to slice into my dad's leg, which sounds bad, but I assure you its not as bad as it sounds. The handle feels fantastic and the Saya looks beautiful, especially with the horn parts (I'm no sword expert, so I'm afraid I don't know the names of these parts). The fittings on the handle were perfectly lined up with the wrap, and it all looks and feels great. The only downsides to this sword is the sageo cord on the scabard has these freyed ends that are kept from fraying farther by pieces of thread wrapped around them. On mine these pieces of thread fell off right away, but it was easily repairable. Outside of that, my particular sword has the tip bent off. Not enough to really fret about or ask anything of a refund, but enough that I noticed. About no more thant the line on my ruler to see its size. It feels noticeably duller on the point because of this, but it still stabs easy enough. Ultimately, this sword is fantastic, gorgeous, and durable, seeing as it took a full strength swing in to a concrete floor and didn't so much as dull. I will be buying from here again.

    Good sword below average finish

Posted by Dinnin on Jun 23rd 2020

Its over all a very good sword and comes out if the box very sharp. Unfortunately this otherwise beautiful sword lost the tie off on the sageo. As a result it frayed really badly and I needed to tie it off with what string I had. It's now really tacky and I may need to cut part of it off. I understand that sacrifices in non essential components but I was hoping it would last a bit longer. This would have been 4 or maybe 5 stars if it want for that

    S&D Sword but its Perfect

Posted by Nolan Hess on May 4th 2020

I ordered the scratch and dent version of this sword to save a little money since I dont care half as much about looks as I do function. However I am unable to find a single thing wrong with the katana and am very happy with my purchase. There is a tiny bit of muck and black staining on the habaki, and I suspect that might have been why it was discounted. Its a perfect sword and I love the simple design and functionality of this sword.

the best ronin katana I ever owned !

Posted by melvin jackson on Nov 4th 2019

I just recently ordered dojo pro #13 and I inspected every inch of that sword and everything is perfect ! its a very well put together katana and it was pretty sharp out the box , although I did go over it with a 8000 grit whetstone to refine the edge and I stropped it . the tsukamaki is great and the ito wrap is very tight and I put 2 heavy coats of lacquer on the ito to make sure it doesnt loosen up over time . the balance is excellent considering the thicker and wider blade . it maneuvers very well and it cuts like a champ . its good to know that the fittings are truely made of iron and they all passed the magnet test . I been working with my 2500 grit and 3000 and 5000 grit sanding pads to bring out a nice mirror polish on my blade and its coming along very nice . I've dealt with other companies and ronin katanas is my favorite and I like ronin katana over hanwei katanas because they have a much betrer tsuka and the fitting are tougher . if anyone is looking for a true battle ready katana then go for the ronin dojo pro katanas . that kick ass dotanuki style blade will not let you down and it'll eat up whatever you put in front of it . the dojo pro #13 gets 5 stars from me all day and I even like it better than my hsts tsunami and I really love my tsunami from ricky chen . but ronin katana is my first choice and my main go to sword for sure . my only issue is that I wish ronin would start using the rough textured ishimi saya instead of the high gloss saya because they scratch really easy and get dinged up easily if youre not careful . but overall its a killer katana and it is a true beast of a sword that I would highly reccomend to anyone ! thanks chris for hooking me up with a nice katana ! god bless and keep up the great work !

the best ronin katana I ever owned !

Posted by Melvin Jackson on Sep 28th 2019

I ordered dojo #13 and this os a superb katana . the construction quality is just through the roof . it had a couple of minor shipping scratches from traveling but my 3000 grit easily cleared that up . the ito wrap is super tight and I just finished painting the rayskin high gloss black . once it dries and cures good , then I'll give it 2 heavy coats of clear gloss lacquer on the ito wrap . this katana is looking even more vicious with.my custom touches and once I get those 2 thick coats of lacquer on the ito then this katana will be unstoppable . I very highly reccomend getting the #13 katana because not only is she a pure beauty but she is an evil beast that can cause some serious devastation in the right hands . hell im giving it 6 stars . even though its only 5 stars . I dont care what any sword collector says but ronin is #1 and anynody that disagrees can kiss my ass ! plain & simple ! ALL HAIL TO RONIN KATANAS FOREVER !!!

If you are considering purchasing this sword, do it. ;)

This dotanuki is simply incredible regarding its performance. I have recently used it for iaido tameshigiri in my aikido class, and it sliced through the omote as though it wasn't even there. Upon inspection afterwards, the cutting edge showed no evidence of wear or scratches nor any bending in the blade whatsoever. The tsuka is wrapped nice and tight, providing a firm grip, and the tsuba is aesthetically pleasing as a plain black disc. Highly recommended for any practitioner of iaido; this is a strong sword that will definitely do some serious cutting.

    purchased 2 swords at once

Posted by Unknown on Sep 29th 2015

I purchased the Dojo Pro model 13 because after much research, I decided that the Ronin Dojo Pro Series was the best value for the price. I also purchased the Ronin Dojo Pro model 30 due to Ronin's website listing it as at a discounted price. For what these two swords cost, you can not beat the value!!! I am no sword expert by any means but I the common sense to prefer function over art!!! I believe I received both function and art in the purchase of these swords though. I am sure there are other swords from other manufacturers that are similar to these Ronin Dojo Pros but I doubt you would have as smooth of a purchase process as Ronin's website provides!! (That is from how user friendly the website is to use, the many options available, in stock status before you add to cart, secure website for credit card transactions, and finally the speed and accuracy in the shipping process). I wrote and extensive review for the model 30 Dojo Pro katana so you may check that review for more details.
