    Pleasantly surprised

Posted by Eric on Mar 10th 2022

This is an implement of death, plain and simple. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and condition of the blade and saya. There were some handling scratches on the saya and some tacky waxy substance on the blade but that wiped off easily and I was able to oil the blade appropriately. The Ito wrap is a bit loose as is the menuki, but not enough to really bother me since the blade is so light. Overall very happy with my scratch and dent purchase.

    Serious bargain

Posted by steve boyett on Feb 17th 2022

I've bought several Ronin Katana scratch & dent katana & tanto. Their flaws have been entirely cosmetic, and because I buy them to customize them from the ground up, these aren't even problems. So they're a great bargain. I just got this #1 tanto, and I can't even figure out why it's a scratch & dent. There are light scratches on the habaki -- as if that won't happen to anything with a habaki after a dozen draws. Woop tee doo. In any case, for $50 youe get a decent-quality blade with nice fittings well assembled. If you're looking for a usable tanto, it's a no-brainer.
