    Fantastic!

Shipping was FAST! Quality is excellent, especially for a scratch & dent. Very well made, with a great edge out of the box. This is a blade that you can actually use, and looks great at the same time.

    Awesome Tanto!

Posted by Dave on Mar 6th 2023

I picked this up on the scratch and dent sale and I'm SO glad I did. This tanto is awesome! Well balanced, feels great in the hand. The blade profile is beautiful with the double bo-hi. The fit in the saya is great. Tight enough to stay secure, but draws and sheathes easily. The blade itself is super sharp also. Haven't done any cutting yet, but plan to test it a little when I can get some tatami mats. The detail on the fittings is really nice as well. Gives it a ton of character without being flashy. The tsuka-ito is tight. There's a little wiggle in the diamonds if you really push, but nothing that makes me concerned about it coming loose in kata or cutting exercises. To be honest, I can't find whatever it was that put this in the S&D pile, but that's fine by me. If you're looking for a great tanto for training, cutting, or just for the aesthetics of it, this is a great purchase.

I am super impressed by this and even more so from the scratch and dent sale. I can't find anything wrong with it. It's a very well made tanto and came in good condition very quickly. Highly recommend.

    Impressive!

Posted by Marvin Smith on May 27th 2022

I am impressed with the quality of this piece, especially given that I purchased it as a ‘scratch & dent’. I was skeptical as to whether I could actually use this blade, but after handling it, I have no doubt it will be a functional tool for me, as well as an attractive addition to my collection. Thank you for the quick shipping , excellent communication, and quality blade. I will be a returning customer.

The wrap on the handle is tight. Real ray skin. The tsuba is iron. The blade geometry is beautiful, but the edge is not very sharp. The tanto feels well balanced in my hand. The knife is loose in the scabbard and falls out when held upside down.

A good purchase considering it was on sale in scratch & dent.

Annual scratch and dent sell tanto.

Posted by Matthew on Apr 7th 2022

Shipping was very fast. I bought this tanto and a wakizashi from the annual scratch and dent sell. The wakizashi was nearly flawless, the tanto was a little worse though. The blade had a slight bend in it from the quench Anda small nick in the bottom edge. The fittings in the kurikata were loose and not glued, easy fix. I was able to get most the bend out of the blade but it will never be truly stright. The nick in the edge will eventually dissapear after a few sharpening. Over all this was an excellent deal for the price.

    Pleasantly surprised

Posted by Eric on Mar 10th 2022

This is an implement of death, plain and simple. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and condition of the blade and saya. There were some handling scratches on the saya and some tacky waxy substance on the blade but that wiped off easily and I was able to oil the blade appropriately. The Ito wrap is a bit loose as is the menuki, but not enough to really bother me since the blade is so light. Overall very happy with my scratch and dent purchase.
